Samsung N220: Rating: 4/5
All the reviews I've read on here cover the main pros and cons of this netbook so there's not much point me repeating what's already been covered.

What I will comment on however, is the ubiquitous complaint concerning the operation of the on/off switch. As far as I'm concerned, this is not a legitimate complaint; it's nothing more than a whinge. It does not irritate my fingers one jot and my fingers are by no means made of asbestos. If it does cause some folks irritation, then they must be operating the switch in excess of four hundred times a day.

One point that I believe requires articulation is that the 2 Gig RAM upgrade is indeed essential. I've also installed full Windows 7 on mine and gotten rid of all the Samsung junk. I did this before using the machine in anger so can't comment if removing the junk ware has improved matters.

Overall, great little machine at a reasonable price. Light weight so very portable and the battery life is incredible.

Pretty happy with the purchase. Screen good, 250G hard drive BUT comes with an awful lot off preloaded stuff that slows the operation right down. The problem is that you're not sure if you need half of the stuff so you're scared to delete it just in case.

Lots of pop ups askng your permission to write to hard disk, how do I know if I should say yes or no?

I think once you take it into a service centre and get advice on getting rid of the rubbish you will have a pretty decent netbook.
Samsung N220: Rating: 4/5
The Samsung N220 is a great little computer. I uprated the memory to 2GB - it really needs that, and to windows 7 home from Windows 7 starter. It starts up and shuts down very quickly (it needs some of the unhelpful free software removing to achieve this) - it is very light and the battery lasts a long time. I had to switch off the power saving on the CPU and wireless for it to work really well (especially on Skype) and while this of course compromises the battery life a little, it is not shortened by too much. The screen is small, but very good and with the browser set to full screen its works well. Great product - I would definitely recommend.
Samsung N220. Great promise. Fell at first hurdle.: Rating: 1/5

Loved the look of the little Samsung N220. Very classy unit with nice touches of chrome around the edges and a lid colour other than black.
Boot time very quick. Linux boot mode in hyperspace very good. Battery life immense.
There it ends though. Most of the rest of the time when it was actually working, I spent removing stupidly added freeware. The rest I spent trying to get it to talk to my wireless modem router thing.
One of the biggest pains with this was when I finally got it to work, I then had to enter all the settings again in the Hyperspace side of the business. This is basically a linux based stripped down side of the netbook that allows easy fast access to basic services. Great idea. Only thing is to connect to wireless router I had to enter the network key in the hyperspace side. Ok, so what? Well, I have around 6 devices I used at various times on the wireless unit and being a good boy I use a 12 character passkey with numbers, letters and symbols.
Getting to the end of my passkey was not easy. First of all, if you ask to see the characters that works for about 5 letters. Then it dumps what you have written and you have hidden letters. Then after 9 characters entered (and still being able to see what they were) The @ key was not recognised. Over and over I tried this but to no avail. Eventually, I had to go and change all the other devices to a key without this symbol. Why? Dont know. Less than 3 weeks after owning it, with not really very much real use - just configuring, installing sofware etc. The stupid thing wouldn't boot. Diagnostics (via boot key F12) just said - check cable.
Had to send it back within 30 day rule.

It was a very nice unit. But, it has finally confimed my opinion that windows is only fit for users who like to waste their entire creative lives mucking about configuring things that really should just work. It made my mind up finally to buy a computer that will do the job you ask of it - not turn you into a geek just to drive it!
Windows sucks and I will only buy Apple from now on. After all, the car I bought recently didn't need me to be able to remove and replace the management system first before I could go to Asda!
Good service from Amazon throughout.

Best thing since sliced bread: Rating: 5/5
I just cannot fault this Netbook, I have upgraded all the bits that can be upgraded. I just love it. I sit in the garden with it for hours, the battery lasts for ages, a lot longer than my other laptop. It looks nice and sturdy, but is very light wieght, I have not found any downsides yet to the Samsung N220, and I hope I don't in the future. I would highly recommend this product.
