| I had been wanting a laptop for some time but was undecided because of the vast choice available. I finally settled on the Toshiba L500 with 4 gigs and 320 disk and a pentium processor. I have not been dissapointed in my choice as I use it mainly for surfing and the Microsoft Office Home and Student meets my needs as we have 2 desktops as well. | | Trial Microsoft software not available: Rating: 3/5 |
| The laptop was supposed to be supplied with MS 2007 60 day trail, however Microsoft are having problems with this and have withdrawn all the activation codes and patches which are required. Have contacted both Microsoft and Toshiba and neither were particularly helpful. Microsoft did not want to know at all, Toshiba did recommend websites to visit for downloads but not to fix the problem. | | toshiba laptop L500-1WG: Rating: 4/5 |

This laptop suits my needs and is certainly a lot more efficient than my 5 year old Toshiba that has had it's day. The only downsides for me are the weight = I find it a bit heavy to have on my lap; and the separate number pad = I just don't need this and would prefer an alphanumeric keyboard central to the screen.
The battery life is quite poor but as I tend to use it plugged in anyway this doesnt bother me too much.
Good value for money and a trusted brand make this laptop an excellent buy. | | Fast, easy to use laptop: Rating: 4/5 |
| Bought this to replace my old Dell and so far very pleased indeed. Its very fast, looks good, and is easy to use. only downside so far is that I am being prompted to instal updates (which is fine) but the explanations etc for installing are complicated and not very clear to someone who is not an IT expert. Not sure whther this is Toshiba or Microsoft issue. | | Excellent Laptop: Rating: 5/5 |
| I am very pleased with this laptop. It's fast and responsive; very good clarity on screen; runs cool, no matter how many tasks I'm working on at once; I like the new numeric keypad as I'd missed this on laptops used over the last few years. All in all, I am very pleased after a month of use. I would recommend this especially to anyone working from home or who, like me, travels a lot as it is very light compared to my last Satellite (yes, I am loyal because it's reliable!). | |
