| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 2.5/5 | | Fan is far too noisey: Rating: 1/5 |
| I am returning my sony L11S1ES 24 inch touchscreen for one reason only: The fan is far too noisey for an all in one desktop computer. I don't believe the fan is broken as I have read other reviews that have stated the fan is too nosiey. It is a shame because everything else about it is great! | | Not wall mountable: Rating: 3/5 |
| Just got one of these to wall mount in my kitchen and have realised its not wall mountable, despite what it says about VESA compatible wall mounts in the manufactures description above. Very disappointed. May be able to use a non standard bracket, to work it out yet, but beware if planning to wall mount. | | First impressions: Rating: 4/5 |
I've had this large and very solid machine for four days, and it is hard not to be impressed by it.
I've avoided Sony for many years, finding them only slightly less smug and infuriating than Apple, but of course like Apple they do have an eye for design. This would have to be called minimalist, and it is certainly smarter than the average PC.
Bearing in mind this is new technology, touchscreen and Windows 7, perhaps a bit more than a three page 'quick start guide' would be useful. This tells you how to 'Locate the User Guide' on screen, but guides you to the wrong place. If you go to 'Start/All Programs' and look for 'Vaio Documentation' you won't find it.
Along the top of the screen is a pull down set of large finger friendly icons, one of which is 'Vaio Support' and you will find the documentation there. It took me two frustrating days to manage that.
Bearing in mind the price I also expected System or Recovery disks, but you don't get either. You are advised to make your own Recovery Disks, or buy them separately from Sony!
Following the instructions to make the recovery disks they failed three times. Eventually I have made them: it took three hours. I hope I shall not have to check whether or not they work.
Having said all that, this is a high quality item, with a sensational picture and many programs I have yet to explore, including TV and Blue-ray.
The touch screen works very well and is fun to use. I'm not sure how much it will be used once the novelty has worn off.
Initial reaction, a lovely piece of equipment, I just wish it wasn't so Sony.
