| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 3.5/5 | | Ok but screen is too small: Rating: 3/5 |
This review is based upon the Windows 7 version rather than Vista
As a netbook the Dell is ok. It's fully loaded and performance is ok providing you don't try to do too much at once.
I have 2 gripes with it.
The screen is too small. It can't diplay a web page that you can view without scrolling back and forth, up and down. Even a YouTube video screen wont fit on without taking it to full screen
My unit has a touchscreen but Windows 7 touchscreen capability is pretty poor. If you are used to an iPhone or ipod Touch, the touchscreen experience is like something from the 90's. Scrolling up and down the page by wiping your finger is a hit and miss affair and doesn't scroll smoothly.
Doesn't bide well for these Windows 7 Slates that were announced at CES......... | | Great little netbook...: Rating: 4/5 |
The review is for the same model except it uses Windows 7 Starter OS instead of XP.
This is a realy good little notebook, its powerful enough to handle every day tasks a PC or laptop can, surf the web and also handle office work such as word processing etc with ease. Its features a 1.6Ghz processor which isnt amazingly fast but its fiesty enough to do what you need it to do without a hiccup.
The screen is incredibly crisp and clear, it looks great to be honest, especially considering the size of it. The keyboard isnt far off being full size so its easy to use for most, the downside is the touchpad. To be honest i hate touchpads with a vengence but this is annoying as the left and right mouse button are incorporated into the touchpad itself, but my girlfriend says its good so i guess its all about opinion on that one.
The netbook features 3 USB sockets which is useful if you rig up USB drives or external HD's or DVD's etc. It also features a VGA out socket on this model, i know other models in the USA have the HDMI out but they have cut it out on the UK version. Not a worry though as i dont realy see it being used.
Along with that theres the standard Headphone and Mic jacks and a network cable jack, also a SD-MS/MMC card reader on the side.
The finish of the netbook is great, we have the black version and it looks shiney and glossy which makes it stand out a little.
Other features are a built in webcam which is pretty good in quality, built in wi-fi. 160GB HD which is great for this size laptop.
All in all this is a pretty decent netbook, a solid performer, i think the downsides are the touchpad which is a minor thing and possibly the ram, 2GB would have been nicer, but i think it can be upgraded.
