| I was really disappointed with this laptop. The quality of the LCD screen is AWFUL. The colours look too washed out and darkening the screen or changing the colour and screen settings makes little difference. The contrast is awful and you cannot change the contrast as there are no settings for this. Sony vaios have always been known for their high quality LCD screens but this series of their laptops is substandard. I had to send this laptop back for a refund as the quality was so awful. I have now bought a different Sony Vaio, one of their F series laptops and am very happy with it, although it was unfortunately considerably more expensive than this one. It seems Sony has decided to make a series of substandard laptops that are more affordable. But their substandard laptops are still ridiculously overpriced and you can get a much cheaper substandard laptop from another brand that will either be of the same quality as this one or better. So save your money as here you are just paying for the brand name and the style. But like I said I still like Sony Vaios. They are very good. But if you want a good one, you will have to spend twice the cost of this one and ensure the laptop has an NVIDIA graphics card with its own separate memory. | | Vibrant Vaio: Rating: 5/5 |
| Once again I'm impressed with Sony and my daughter was over the moon with her birthday present !!! My own experience of Sony is that they last, and last, so time will tell with this one. I've had 2 Vaio's in the past, giving them both away when I was ready to upgrade, and the only one that has packed up was as a consequence of the new owner spilling a full cup of tea on the keyboard and leaving it. Enough said! This machine looks great and functions exceptionally well. B. | | I love my VAIO: Rating: 5/5 |
| I am very pleased with my Sony Vaio, its very light, neat, and easy to use. It was more expensive than other laptops i was looking at but worth the extra. It has a bright crisp screen and i like the keyboard. It also has a 2yr guarantee rather than the usual 1 yr you get from most laptops which makes you feel they trust their product to last. | | Power in Pink: Rating: 5/5 |
| This sony laptop was £50 cheaper than an identical model in silver and as the pink is quite tasteful it is a bonus! Delivery was quick and efficient and set up was very straightforward especially as there is software included which enabled us to transfer files and programmes from the old lap top to the new. The shift from Windows XP to Windows 7 was problem free except for compatibility of RAW images from a Canon Camera. Audio quality is fairly basic but screen image is superb. Excellent quality for a modest price. | | A Great Laptop for the Price, but problematic fan: Rating: 4/5 |
Read the full description for this Sony laptop and ordered from Amazon. Received the laptop and it is exactly as described. It has great looks and a high quality feel - exactly what you would expect from a Sony product.
I hooked it up to my 1080p Samsung SyncMaster Lcd Monitor and the laptop had no problems outputting 1920x1080p High Definition content including video playback, although the laptop monitor screen itself only outputs a maximum resolution of 1366x768p.
The only two problems I have encountered is the touchpad occasionally misbehaving. I find when using the touchpad - a few times I have noticed that the arrow on screen will slow down or not correspond to your finger movements. I solved this problem by removing the "Alps Pointing Device for VAIO" driver, but "Alps Electric" - the manufacturer of the driver need to issue an update to fix this problem and also include support for more user touchpad gestures.
The second problem with this laptop is the 'errrrrrrrr' noise every time the fan spins up and slows down after long periods of using the laptop - which I find very irritating. The 'errrrrrrrr' up and down fan noise is more noticeable if you are in a quite room with minimal background noise and using the laptop. I have never encountered this problem before with other brand of laptops. A quick Youtube search also showed many other users experiencing this kind of fan noise problem with the Sony Vaio.
A great buy, but would of exceeded my expectations if the laptop screen had a native resolution of 1920x1080p and a quieter fan. | |
