| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 4.5/5 | | Nice but not that nice!: Rating: 3/5 |
I have been using this Sony Vaio netbook for over 4 months. I don't own it, I'm using my brother in law's for the moment. Its quite a nice netbook although it has some negative points as well. Firstly the battery life is terrible for only 3 hours you can't do anything within that time. Secondly the keyboard is very hard to get used to, its all very spaced out between each other so its too nifty. Thirdly there is no optical drive - yes I do realise that all of most netbooks don't have these peripherals built in, but it would be nice to have that extra.
There are a very few positives but here they are. Firstly, I like the stylish white design with the chrome finish of the VAIO logo. Secondly like all netbooks, it has a nice built in camera so that when you go on Skype or MSN you can let other people see you on the netbook and a built on microphone, so you don't need to buy any extras.
Overall the Sony Vaio netbook is good at its best, but there are a few things that needs to be altered and be considered carefully. I understand that the price is very expensive and thats because Sony is a very worldwide global company and sells excellent high quality products.
My advice is don't get this netbook if you're looking for something great, especially to a student who needs to do thousands of assignments all in one go and so like I said this netbook has a terrible short battery life, so it would be pointless and a very disappointment for your investment needs.
If you want to look for something thats less disappointing though, then look at netbooks like Samsung, Acer, HP etc, but I would advise you to buy one of the Samsung netbooks, with extra battery life that is very very very much improved than this Sony as some Samsung models are up 11-12 hours, you'll sure to get your assignments done in time - thats if you're a student. | | Great little notebook: Rating: 5/5 |
I got this only for screen resolution 1366x768
It turns out to be highly demanding for your eyes as the fonts are extremely small, if you have any eyesight issues forget about this item. However, if you have a good eyesight and you need a big space for your programs or browsing, then this is an excellent choice.
I use this to go to the customers and to the construction site and often I use autocad to view some details on various drawings. For this is why I bought it for, for this I am awarding 5 stars.
If you would turn to the version with Windows 7, maybe the fonts will be bigger. | | Sony Vaio netbook: Rating: 5/5 |
| Quite simply this is an excellent product. Looks good, easy to set up, buttons easy to type with. No negative points at all. | | Sony Vaio W11S1E Mini Notebook: Rating: 4/5 |
Got this mini notebook and have been using it since. works very well and is light and easy to carry. Keyboard easy to use as well. Battery life only about 3 hours but that is all it supposed to last. I increased the memory size as was only 1Gb.
Would recommend this to anybody looking for a lightweight netbook. | | What an excellent netbook!: Rating: 5/5 |
It took Sony a while to release there first netbook, but the result is not at all dissapointing. The machines design is very impressive and it looks exactly like a scaled-down version of Sony's larger products. The textured palmrest proves suitably durable and the solid matt-white lid also provides excellent protection for the screen.
It also has one of the better netbook keyboards as the keys are speced out, larger than most netbooks and more responsive. The touchpad is particularly large and boasts big, responsive buttons, making for an excellent working environment. The 160GB hard drive also provides plenty of room for all your files and folders.
As a netbook, portability is one of the biggest issues. Weighing in at only 1.1kg including the 3 cell battery which provides around 2.5 hours usage from a full charge. It would be advisable to keep the power adaptor with you when away for extensive periods.
Connectivity is also excellent. This netbook features 802.11N wifi, which is used to gain better speeds and coverage compared to the usual laptop and netbook standard of 802.11G. This netbook also includes bluetooth for wireless interactions with compatible devices such as smartphones or PDA's.
After praising this netbook, the only disadvantages of it would be the price tag. It is slightly more than your average netbook, but for a 720P HD screen, bluetooth and 802.11N wireless connectivity, it might just be worth it. | |
