| Best screen quality in a Mini Notebook. Mini Notebook with real-wide screen for multimedia and Internet in white. |
| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 4.5/5 | | Excellent netbook: Rating: 5/5 |
There is alot to like about this netbook. It's got the usual great Vaio build quality, and the screen is really nice (it's a glossy screen, which I prefer, although some may not).
I have a spare Win7 licence, so I installed that, it runs nicely (the unit comes by default with a fine XP, that's not full of the usual Sony crud).
Interestingly, it's identical hardware spec to the W12S1E (the only difference being the W12 comes with Win7 and the larger battery, the W11 comes with XP and the slimline and shorter use battery), so if you find this at a bargain price, and factor in a Win7 licence, it's a great purchase!
The only thing I can see that people may not like (but it's not a problem for me), is the battery life. I get about 3 hours use out of it. However that's the price you pay for a very slimline formfactor. If you need better batter life, you will need to get a bigger netbook/laptop, or invest in the extended battery for this netbook (VGP-BPL18) | | Small with a big personality!: Rating: 5/5 |
| Really pleased with this notebook. Read all the reviews and the battery doesn't particular last long (approx 3 hours) but everything else is just great! Well worth the money. | | I like the product: Rating: 5/5 |
| I buy this product for my wife as she needs to make presentations. She is very happy as it is very handy to use and easy to carry. As compare to other mini lappis its battery backup is less, but after all its worthy to buy it. | | Nice but not that nice!: Rating: 3/5 |
I have been using this Sony Vaio netbook for over 4 months. I don't own it, I'm using my brother in law's for the moment. Its quite a nice netbook although it has some negative points as well. Firstly the battery life is terrible for only 3 hours you can't do anything within that time. Secondly the keyboard is very hard to get used to, its all very spaced out between each other so its too nifty. Thirdly there is no optical drive - yes I do realise that all of most netbooks don't have these peripherals built in, but it would be nice to have that extra.
There are a very few positives but here they are. Firstly, I like the stylish white design with the chrome finish of the VAIO logo. Secondly like all netbooks, it has a nice built in camera so that when you go on Skype or MSN you can let other people see you on the netbook and a built on microphone, so you don't need to buy any extras.
Overall the Sony Vaio netbook is good at its best, but there are a few things that needs to be altered and be considered carefully. I understand that the price is very expensive and thats because Sony is a very worldwide global company and sells excellent high quality products.
My advice is don't get this netbook if you're looking for something great, especially to a student who needs to do thousands of assignments all in one go and so like I said this netbook has a terrible short battery life, so it would be pointless and a very disappointment for your investment needs.
If you want to look for something thats less disappointing though, then look at netbooks like Samsung, Acer, HP etc, but I would advise you to buy one of the Samsung netbooks, with extra battery life that is very very very much improved than this Sony as some Samsung models are up 11-12 hours, you'll sure to get your assignments done in time - thats if you're a student. | | Great little notebook: Rating: 5/5 |
I got this only for screen resolution 1366x768
It turns out to be highly demanding for your eyes as the fonts are extremely small, if you have any eyesight issues forget about this item. However, if you have a good eyesight and you need a big space for your programs or browsing, then this is an excellent choice.
I use this to go to the customers and to the construction site and often I use autocad to view some details on various drawings. For this is why I bought it for, for this I am awarding 5 stars.
If you would turn to the version with Windows 7, maybe the fonts will be bigger. | |
