Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 4.5/5
Simple camera: Rating: 4/5
Nice camera, small, light, takes a nice picture, easy to use, easy to get your pictures off the camera and on to your PC. Uses AA batteries and you could probably pick them up on the moon so no worries about charging if your out and about. I got this for my Mum who is a bit of a technophobe, she's just using it as a still camera for now but I think she's ready to move on to video capture. Not too many options to worry about so you can pretty much take it out your pocket and start snapping away.

Great value for a fun easy camera that's not too fussy.
Nice budget camera hampered by shocking battery life: Rating: 3/5
I don't write reviews for every product I buy, usually only doing so when something has either greatly impressed me or greatly shocked me. This little camera is a conundrum, somehow managing to fit between the two but only because of price.

For a sub £50 camera, this is a pretty good investment, especially if you register with Fuji and pay just a little more for an extended guarantee which is far, far cheaper than that offered by the retailers. Picture quality varies from average to nice but never exceptional. Shots aren't always in focus and colours can be a little odd, however for the price of the camera, they're acceptable. Nowhere near as good as my bigger Fuji but then that cost several times more and I wasn't expecting it to match that anyway. However, the display is quite poor with shots looking much darker on the LCD screen than they actually will be once you upload to your computer. You have to learn to ignore what you see on the screen and hope for the best - hardly the best thing!

So up to now, barring a couple of niggles, it's simple to use, light to carry and runs on AA batteries which means you can carry spares and not have to rely on a built in battery exhausting itself when you're away from home.

Unfortunately, that's also where the A170 really falls over. This camera absolutely eats battery power and I'm surprised Fuji have released such an energy inefficient product in this age of environmentalism and power preservation. Even with a new pair of high capacity alkaline batteries, I'd estimate you're still not looking at much more than sixty or so pictures. An even odder quirk is that even with a brand new pair of quality alkalines, the battery meter will drop from full to two thirds almost immediately after insertion and switching on. Within twenty frames, it will drop to one third, stay there for who knows how long and then begin flashing by about fifty. At this point it will start turning itself off but will still turn on and allow you to take one of two more before turning off again. This last process seems to carry on indefinitely until the batteries really do give up. As for fresh rechargeable batteries, you can get instantly anywhere from two thirds to almost zero. All of this makes it impossible to gauge how much power you truly have. Simply awful.

So overall, a half decent camera severely hampered by the unpredictable battery life and the absolute compulsion to carry spares. For less than fifty quid, it's an okay-ish buy, but any more than this and you should look elsewhere.
Good little camera at the price.: Rating: 4/5
I've had this camera for some time now, and it has served me well. It's cheap and cheerful and does the job of getting decent shots without a lot of ado. Great for everyday shots.
It's cake to use and looks quite slick. It's great to take all over the place with you and fits in my jeans pocket.

I've found one or two things that are a bit problematic which I noticed straight away. The colours on the "Auto" setting were far too dark, however I find that putting it onto "natural light" solves that problem.
If you are wanting a camera with a decent zoom, this is not it, it's only 3x but I knew that when I bought it, but for the money Fujifilm Photography have done a great job.
Fantastic camera!: Rating: 5/5
I didn't have time to try out this camera before going on holiday - and luckily, it is so easy to use that my holiday snaps are great! This is my first camera and really enjoyable and easy to use, though I was recommended by more camera-savvy people to purchase a memory card to get the most out of this camera, so I would factor this into your budget too. As for uploading onto the pc, I used the memory card to do this, and it couldnt' be easier! The pictures are a great quality, and I'm really pleased with the camera
Good for kids?: Rating: 4/5
I looked at cameras for my 3 year old grandson. The usual children's ones were £30-£60 and of measly quality. This is a simple cheap but 10MP camera which produces good quality photos. He is adept at turning it on & taking photos & Mum can "borrow" it when she has forgotten hers. It is reasonably robust and as it doesn't look like a toy he doesn't throw it at the cat!.
