There may be difficulty to receive Freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong. This is due to that the Freeview service in the UK is not fully operating yet. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program. A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to Freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings & etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to receive Freeview in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna. |

I purchased this in an optimistic frame of mind, I wanted to be able to watch freeview tv channels on my laptop when away from home.
Set up and viewing when connected to my domestic tv aerial provided a full (as far as I could tell) channel line up, with a decent picture quality (on a good spec laptop).
However switching to the portable aerial proved to be a complete showstopper. I have tried to run the setup from 4 different geographic locations, and on each occasion failed to find any channels. If mobile viewing is your aim, I can only suggest waiting until the UK freeview signal is much more reliable, or look for a different solution. | | laptop freeview tv receiver: Rating: 1/5 |
| Returned this item only worked on the outdoor ariel not on one supplied very disapointed | | some troubles: Rating: 3/5 |
| I've got some troubles to make it working in linux (ubuntu), but finally after few tricks (changing driver's source code) it works almost well. From time to time, probably because of temperature, it hangs up. | | Excellent piece of kit: Rating: 5/5 |
| I'll start with the proviso that this needs to be connected to a decent aerial - the one that comes with it is useless. If this is the case, it works really well. Picture quality is good even on a fairly basic monitor and, unlike other DVB-T sticks of this ilk, the picture appears relatively quickly. I was also fortunate - the Freecom stick that I had before (also very good, but suffered rather when I trod on it) required the installation of the ArcSoft software that this uses. To my surprise and delight, this hooked up with the stick immediately - I didn't need to retune. As they say, it worked out of the box, including the remote control. Highly recommended. | | It's Great: Rating: 5/5 |
This Is A Great Product At Such A Cheap Price! The Picture Is Good But It Can Be A Little Studdery! I Recommend Plugging It In To A Rooftop Aerial TO Scan for Channels As You Only Get About 67 Channels From The Supplied Antenna! I Also Recommend Using Windows Media Centre As That Gets 95 Channels And The Supplied "Total Media 3" Only Get Just Over 60 Rooftop Aerial Or The Supplied One!
Anyway, Don't Let The Cost Put You Off As This Is A Great Product 5 ***** | |
