I won't bore you - here is what you need to know.
Good Points: Light, fantastic keyboard, high build quality, clear crisp screen, reliable.
Bad points: None really.
Things that could be better: The webcam is a little dark.
Operating System: XP sp3 works quite well and boots up and shutsdown with speed. I also downloaded Ubuntu Netbook remix and installed that - everything apart from WiFi worked first time. I got the WiFi working easily after downloading the latest updates and searching for hardware in the hardware drivers app.
Hardware: It has only 2 usb ports, but I really cannot see why you would need more, so that's not an issue in my book. You can boot from the internal SD card reader or from USB drive. The built in speakers are very good for a laptop. Built in Bluetooth is easy to use.
Graphics: I tried GL Quake, Quake 2, Unreal etc. The framerate is very high and the games play really well. Forget playing more modern titles - the screen resolution and the graphics power from the Intel chipset isn't up to it. But you didn't want a netbook for games, did you?
Conclusion: Value for money, you cannot go wrong, unless you have some fetish with plugging in as many USB devices as you can all at once. | | Simply The Best: Rating: 5/5 |
| The size is superb while the efficiency is something to write home about. The price is not all that homely, however considering the features and in comparison with apple products, I think this is simply amazing. The delivery was also amazing just delivered within 24 hours of buying it. As a result of this I would recommend it to anyone looking for something so small to put in the handbag, however be aware that it carries no CD slot, so you must make do without one and need to purchase one. I bought this for travel for Email and browsing. Which it performs very well for both, although I run thunderbird the unit can not cope with all my email accounts (about 10) got a bit bogged down, but I did expect this. Battery is a bit poor, 2-3 hours max, but I turn down the screen it last a little longer.
If your not expecting a Vaio this is a good buy but I would not recommend buying this as your one and only laptop, great for the breif case, small light easy to get out ! | | Very capable, great value notebook: Rating: 5/5 |
| This Compaq 10.2 inch netbook is really the same as its HP brother. Specification is excellent, the keyboard is probably the best you can get on a netbook and the build quality is superb. Only limitations are that the hard disk is only 60Gb (but who would really need more on a netbook?) and battery life is a little low at 2 to 3 hours, which is pretty typical for standard batteries. I bought this as my first Netbook, for travel or out and about. I don't, therefore, use it that often. I was encouraged by some of the reviews others had left for this model on Amazon, so decided to give it a try.
It was easy to set up, although I'm still trying to configure it so that it asks me for a password upon logging on (it currently doesn't do this, despite my best efforts).
Its lack of a CD drive also makes it harder to install software; I am trying to put Office and Antivirus on it.
It may also take a bit of time to adjust to the smaller size of it as I keep accidentally moving the mouse when I am typing as I am used to a 15.4" laptop.
Other than these issues I'm encountering, it has been a good purchase and has already paid for itself. The internet browsers are fast to load and are of great visual quality; I have been able to use Youtube, Facebook, Amazon, etc with no problems at all. |
