| we have three macbooks in the family, they are all the same but the one i bought here is much cheaper than the others. We do prefer apple computers less problems with them. | | tea-proof: Rating: 5/5 |
I spilt tea over my macbook this afternoon. An entire mug. It flooded the trackpad, seeped into the keyboard and got into the hairline gap between the plastic and the liquid-crystal display. No problem, though: I turned the laptop upside-down and let the liquid stream out. Then I padded it dry with some paper towels.
Now I haven't tried this experiment with other beverages, and nor have I tried it with my flatmate's PC, but at least if you buy Apple you can rest assured that your laptop will be tea-proof. | | Unsure about buying? Get one :): Rating: 5/5 |
I got this macbook after a few weeks researching and debating the best system to buy as a 'creative' computer, and as someone new to Macs I really must say how impressed I am. At the time of writing this is the most basic macbook available, I went for this model as the aluminium one lack firewire; I wanted this as an option for external audio hardware.
Out of the box the macbook is a desirable object, like most other apple products. It runs smoothly, has a very nice suite of software included ranging from a decent music creator/recorder, video conferencing, movie editors as well as standard software like dvd players. The inclusion of a good quality camera and microphone built into the computer is a nice touch, particularly useful for musicians as with the aforementioned recording software (Garageband) you have a portable dictaphone for ideas.
Several weeks of normal browsing and still not one virus thanks to OS X. Perhaps my favourite thing about this laptop is the upgradeability. For £30 and a couple of youtube tutorials I was able to upgrade the RAM to 4gb, and the result are incredible; running multitrack, effect processed mixes in cubase, with samples rewired in via reason while playing dvds, streaming multiple videos in safari and recording video on the built in camera - I couldn't do anything to compromise performance and was barely getting through 1.5 gig of my RAM.
Overall I love my macbook and would encourage anyone looking to spend this much on a laptop to go for this one; there are cheaper options for basic browsing and such, but if you want a computer so nice it makes normal tasks more enjoyable, while having such concise architecture and power inside to cope with pro level recording photo or film editing in a portable package, then this is your best bet. | | Utterly Mind bogglingly Fantastic: Rating: 5/5 |
Just after xmas I went out to the apple store to buy one of these, my first ever apple device of any kind. The staff we amazing so genuinely nice and helpful with out any of that fake Americanized "HI HOW MAY I HELP YOU SIR" commission lead bull poop. Jeez what can I say it slays my almost twice as fast windows desktop, typing is a joy not a chore, downloads are fast, constant and uninterrupted, After being the poor sap thats always called out to drefrag, fix and reformat my families windows PCs and laptops. I find the OS a breath of fresh air, Slightly confusing for the first day but thats it everything makes sense and is logical only showing relevant info and not confusing you with miles of techie babble options. Put quite simply this delivers the internet as it was intended; for the masses, easy to use, fast and virus free. Connections are a breeze i.e search, click then connect its that simple even for me. Maintenance is so easy once a week it auto switches on connects to apple and updates ALL files and programs.
SUMMARY
Well Basically I wasn't expecting much difference in performance or ease of use but it would have been even easier if i had taken the free tuition in store that day. But the little machine has proved itself at every turn even gaming, so in my opinion Bill Gates can take a long walk off a short pier. this is not the end, but the start of completely changing everything in the home from the corporate business mega machine of windows to the green eco responsible Apple brand
