| Gas Detector: Rating: 4/5 |
| Seems quite sensitive in giving an audible alarm in the event of mains gas escape. Easy to install and an advantage being powered by 230V mains electric rather than battery operated. |

| I bought this after my Mother aged 78 almost blew herself and my brother up after leaving the gas hob on as she has a very poor sense of smell and by the time my brother had smelt the gas upstairs it would have been very dangerous. Thankfully we have not tested in real life situation, however I took it from the box and plugged into a socket around 2 feet from my own gas cooker and turned on the gas. Within 2 minutes and 20 seconds a very loud alarm was sounded and I have to say I was standing in front of the cooker and I had barely smelt the gas at that stage. When I decided to look for one I had an expectation of paying £40 upwards for a worth while alarm. It is discreet and has a screw bracket so it could be fitted out of sight if needs be. My Mother has hers tucked behind her kettle on the bench and you cannot see it. Highly recommended and the peace of mind comes at any cost to me. |
| Mercury Gas Detector: Rating: 5/5 |
Both my wife and I could smell gas in our kitchen after repairs were carried out to our gas boiler. Nobody in our family would believe us when we said there was a leak. I then bought a Murcury Gas Detector via Amazon and set it up in the kitchen. Almost immediately it detected gas. The fitter came out and finally found the leak. A nut had not been fully screwed up. He was so impressed with the detector that he was going to get one himself.
To my mind buying the detector was a life saver.
Many thanks

| Weight off my mind!: Rating: 5/5 |
I purchased this because my gran has left the gas hob on a few times.
Really easy to use, I just plugged it in a disused kitchen socket and that was it! I put a sticker on it saying "do not switch off" incase one of my grandparents unplugged it to save on electric!!
It's a brilliant buy. |

It took some time to get the (mains) wiring neat, when the detector needed to be above the cooker.
We tested it by leaving a gas ring on, unlit - it worked!
We now hope we never hear it agin, apart from a monthly test.
We live in a block of flats, and I feel safer now it is fitted, however I wish all the other reidents would fit one! |
